The proposed research is a comparative study that aimed to explore the nuances of friendship intimacy between women and gay men, compared to same-sex friendships between women. Intimacy is a key component of many close relationships, and understanding how it is experienced and expressed in diverse types of friendships can provide awareness into how individuals form and maintain meaningful connections. The study challenges traditional gender roles and expectations regarding intimate expression and provides an opportunity to explore how gender and sexual orientation shape the way individuals communicate and relate to others intimately. The study investigates whether friendships between women and gay men are perceived to be more intimate than those between female friends.
