This paper examines the connections between family structure and two measures of educational attainment within Pennsylvania school districts: high school dropout rates and the percentage of college bound students. This study analyzes how high school dropout rates and the percentage of college bound students are associated with two parent households versus single parent households. I find that a higher number of female households with no partner or spouse present is associated with higher levels of high school dropouts and college bound students, relative to married couple families.
